“Song for Bernadette: An Evening of Lyrics and Dance,” at the Poetry Project in September

Next month there will be benefit held in honor of Bernadette Mayer, at the Poetry Project at St. Marks, in New York.  (For more information about Mayer’s situation and the “Friends of Bernadette Mayer Fund,” see this Harriet blog post from January 2013).

This will surely be a special event, so if you’re in or around New York, put it on your calendar:

There are few contemporary poets who have influenced the reading, writing and teaching of poetry as deeply as Bernadette Mayer. “Song for Bernadette” is a benefit for her. All proceeds will be donated to “The Friends of Bernadette Mayer Fund” and will help her keep warm and focused on writing throughout the winter.

Featuring Anne Waldman, Arthur’s Landing, Artur 8 (KDMS), Bill Berkson, Ernie Brooks, Daniel Carter, Douglas Dunn, Elodie Lauten, Nirosta Steel, Stacy Szymaszek, Steven Taylor, and more TBA. Guest curated by Steven Hall.

Co-sponsored with The Committee on Poetry and Danspace. $10-$20 suggested donation. For more info about Mayer, please read this post on Harriet.

If you want to help but can’t attend the event, you can send a check to:

Committee on Poetry
P.O. Box 582
Stuyvesant Station, New York, NY 10009-0582

All donations are tax-deductible. Checks should be written out to Committee on Poetry, with Friends of Bernadette Mayer Fund written on the memo.
